Dr. Ilan Timor is widely known for his research in Ob/Gyn ultrasound laying the fundamentals of transvaginal ultrasound. He received awards for his work and lectured in 25 different countries. He published eight books: the first ever written on transvaginal sonography and fetal neurosonography. Published over 340, reviews and book chapters.
He is the recipient of awards by:
- The Fry Award by the AIUM.
- Ian Donald Medal by ISUOG
- Liley Medal by the International Society “The Fetus as a Patient”
- Ob/Gyn Ultrasound award by the Israeli Society of US in Ob/Gyn.
Dr. Timor received his medical degree from Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel, and completed a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1984 he was appointed Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical School of the Technion in Haifa, Israel. In 1986, he joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center as a Professor of Ob/Gyn. He was the Director of Ob/Gyn at Bnai Zion Hospital 1993-1995. From 1998 he was Director and Professorof Ob/Gyn Ultrasound at NYU SOM. At the present he is Professor of Ob/Gyn at theIcahn School of Medicine New York, NY. and joined the high-risk obstetrical practice of “Maternal Resources” in Hackensack New Jersey.
Dr. Timor is a member of many prestigious medical societies and organizations, including the SMFM , the ACOG, the AIUM, the New York Perinatal Society, The New York Obstetrical Society, The Italian Society of Ultrasound, The Romanian Society of Ultrasound, The New York Gynecological Society, and the ISUOG. In the last 15 years Dr Timor is interested in the Cesarean Scar Pregnancy and Placenta Accreta Spectrum authoring over 40 articles related to the subject.
