Charlotte Henningsen, MS, RT(R), RDMS, FSDMS, FAIUM, is an adjunct faculty at AdventHealth University in Orlando, FL. She began her ultrasound career in the early 80s while in the military and has been employed by the University for over 30 years, during which time she developed and taught entry-level sonography programs and point of care imaging to graduate students. Additionally, she provided point of care ultrasound education to multiple residencies at AdventHealth. Her roles at the University included serving as Chair of the Sonography Department, Director of the Center for Advanced Ultrasound Education, and Director of Faculty Development. Currently, her primary focus is on point of care education.
Charlotte has published journal articles, textbook chapters, and authored a textbook on ultrasound. She has lectured extensively on a variety of ultrasound and teaching and learning topics. She chaired a task force that developed the first National Education Curriculum for sonography. Charlotte has been recognized through receipt of the SDMS Distinguished Educator Award in 2012 and the 2017 AIUM Distinguished Sonographer Award. She served as 2nd Vice President of the AIUM and President of the SDMS. She recently completed her role as co-chair of the task force for the development of the WRMSD Practice Principles. Her professional service continues in multiple areas including serving on the AIUM Disinfection and Cleaning Task Force and as a
reviewer and CME Test Editor for the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine.
