Elsa Fouragnan is a Professor in cognitive neuroscience, UKRI Future Leader Fellow, and the Head of the Brain Stimulation Department at the Brain Research Imaging Centre, Faculty of Health, University of Plymouth, UK.
Prof. Fouragnan's current research endeavors focus on advancing the field of transcranial ultrasound neuromodulation (TUS). She is at the forefront of exploring how TUS can serve as a powerful tool for causal manipulation of brain activity, helping researchers better understand the intricate workings of the brain. This innovative approach holds immense potential for uncovering new insights into neural circuits and their roles in cognition and behavior.
In addition to its research applications, Prof. Fouragnan is dedicated to translating TUS into a therapeutic solution for addressing mental health challenges. By leveraging its precision and non-invasive nature, TUS offers a promising pathway to improve neurological well-being, potentially revolutionizing treatment options for conditions such as depression, anxiety, and other neuropsychiatric disorders.
