Brielle M. Paolini, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Dr. Paolini holds an MD/PhD from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where she earned her PhD in Neuroscience. Her expertise spans diagnostic radiology, with a particular focus on breast imaging and ultrasound.
Her leadership roles within MUSC include serving as the Breast Imaging Resident Clinical Liaison, Radiology Interest Group Faculty Mentor, and CoMentor for the Radiology Residency Wellness Committee. Dr. Paolini has a strong commitment to mentorship, guiding medical students, residents, and fellows in their academic and research endeavors. She is involved in multiple research projects related to ultrasound, breast cancer genetics, screening technologies, and healthcare disparities with numerous publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Paolini has designed and implemented a longitudinal radiology curriculum for third-year medical students at MUSC. She is passionate about teaching ultrasound across all levels of medical training, equipping future clinicians with the skills necessary to integrate ultrasound into their daily practice. In addition to her academic and clinical work, Dr. Paolini has a distinguished record of teaching at MUSC, delivering lectures and facilitating case reviews for medical students and residents.
