Enyo Ama Ablordeppey, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree and public health training at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Ablordeppey is a physician-scientist who has observed significant gaps between evidence-based recommendations and actual clinical practices in acute care settings, particularly in critical care environments where rapid decision-making is often essential. Over time, she has come to recognize that the barriers to deimplementation—changing entrenched practices—are distinct from those encountered in implementation efforts. Some practices persist due to their low-value prioritization in acute care, and the urgency of clinical demands often overrides evidence-based recommendations. Her training in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Emergency Ultrasound, combined with her growing expertise in implementation science, uniquely position her to identify and address these evidence-to-practice gaps in critically ill patients.
