I, Robert Monaco MD am a sports medicine physician at Atlantic Health Systems in New Jersey. i focus my career on sports ultrasound
I have spent the last 25 years as a sports medicine physician and last 15 years as and ultrasound practitioner, I was the Director of sports medicine at Rutgers for over 20 years and now work in a large medical system, Atlantic Health, where I focus my career on sports ultrasound, education, and regenerative medicine of musculoskeletal problems. I am passionate about sports ultrasound, teaching and education, as well as participating in research. I am a former AIUM board member
I have been involved in fellow education for over 20 years, serving multiple roles including director and trained numerous medical students and allied health providers. I have actively taught in over 50 ultrasound courses. These courses have been at the national and international level, including annually speaking at the AIUM musculoskeletal course held in conjunction with Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze. I also have directed the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Fundamentals course for numerous years. I currently run a weekly sports ultrasound journal club/webinar for numerous fellowships and continue with research and publishing. I have been involved with AIUM over ten years having attended numerous national meetings and participating in a variety of manners and on the board
I became involved with the AIUM the moment I began learning ultrasound. I was drawn to the organization because of its dedication to providing education, fostering best practices, and facilitating research. I volunteer and remain actively involved in the AIUM because I enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team with a common goal to promote the use of safe, high-quality medical ultrasound working to provide the best care for our patients.
