Dr. Faranak Behnia is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist and Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, where she also co-directs the Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Ultrasound program.
Dr. Behnia earned her medical degree from the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at UTMB Galveston.
With a strong clinical focus, Dr. Behnia specializes in prenatal ultrasound screening and diagnosis, genetic screening and diagnosis, and the management of pregnancies complicated by maternal medical conditions or congenital fetal abnormalities. Her research interests include the role of oxidative stress-induced senescence in fetal membranes during parturition, as well as the impact of environmental toxicants on preterm birth.
