Dr. Tirado, originally from Puerto Rico, completed Medical School and Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Puerto Rico, where he served as Academic Chief Resident. Following residency, he completed an Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
He began his career as Ultrasound Director for the FL Hospital (now Advent Health) EM Residency Program, where he practiced from 2007 to 2018. During this time, Dr. Tirado established a comprehensive Ultrasound Curriculum and a Credentialing Process for residents and faculty. He founded and directed the FL Hospital Ultrasound Fellowship from 2013 to 2018. Additionally, he served as Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, developing a four-year Ultrasound curriculum for medical students.
In 2018, Dr. Tirado became Program Director for a new HCA Healthcare/USF Morsani College of Medicine EM Residency Program. He is also an Associate Professor at USF Morsani College of Medicine GME.
Dr. Tirado has presented at SAEM, ACEP Scientific Assembly, AAEM, and the World Congress on Ultrasound in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. His research includes work on non-invasive estimation of central venous pressure using bedside ultrasound in critically ill ED patients. He is passionate about ultrasound-guided procedures and ultrasound management in emergency medicine.
An active member of AIUM, AAEM, SAEM, and ACEP, Dr. Tirado has contributed to multiple committees within the Ultrasound Section, including the EUS Reporting Guidelines and as former Chair and Course Director for the Emergency Ultrasound Management Course.
