Vascular Pathologies of the Head and Neck on Ultrasound with CT and MRI Correlation

This session provides a review of sonographic evaluation of the extracranial and intracranial carotid and vertebral systems as well as detailed evaluation of the subclavian artery and related pathological conditions. Universally utilized sonographic protocols and updates of the criteria for carotid stenosis will also be discussed. Tips and tricks in evaluation of the transcranial vasculature will be provided. Correlation with CT and MRI of the brain and neck will be presented.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn techniques in evaluation of the extracranial and intracranial carotid, vertebral, and subclavian vascular systems.
  • Review updates of carotid artery stenosis criteria.
  • Learn sonographic presentation of various pathologies of anterior and posterior circulation in the neck and in the brain and their correlation with CT and MRI.
