Neurosonography: From Basic to Advanced

This session provides a comprehensive look into neurosonography, covering essential techniques and advanced diagnostic applications across perinatal, neonatal, and full-term infant care. Through three focused talks with Q&A sessions, participants will explore the use of neurosonography to assess and diagnose perinatal anomalies, analyze premature neonate brain conditions, and evaluate neurological concerns in full-term infants. Attendees will gain valuable skills in identifying a range of brain abnormalities, understanding their implications, and knowing when to utilize advanced imaging modalities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate key anomalies seen both in Fetal and neonatal life including ventriculomegaly, holoprosencephaly, agenesis of the corpus callosum and Dandy Walker spectrum malformations.
  • Diagnose subependymal and intraventricular hemorrhages (SEH and IVH) and understand Papille grading system and its limitations
  • Discuss specific full term infant concerns that can be analysed by neurosonography and will know how to evaluate HIE with US and when to seek MRI analysis
