This hands-on workshop is designed to equip physicians and advanced practice providers with essential skills for performing ultrasound-guided nerve blocks to effectively manage acute and chronic pain. Participants will learn techniques to facilitate pain-free procedures without the need for procedural sedation, reducing associated risks and enhancing patient comfort.
Through direct practice, attendees will gain practical knowledge to expand their armamentarium of nerve blocks, enabling safer and more effective pain management in emergency and acute care settings.

Learning Objectives:

  • To identify the clinical indications for various regional nerve blocks, including interscalene, supraclavicular, erector spinae, serratus anterior, fascia iliaca, PENG, and popliteal sciatic blocks.
  • To gain knowledge of the relevant surface and sono anatomy, and to be able to locate the target location for injection of local anesthetic in performing the interscalene, supraclavicular, erector spinae, serratus anterior, fascia iliaca, and popliteal sciatic blocks.
  • To practice in-plane ultrasound guided needle placement for the aforementioned blocks. To understand the appropriate usage and dosing of common local anesthetics for these nerve blocks and be able to identify and manage local anesthetic systemic toxicity.
