Abnormal Uterine Bleeding Through the Menopausal Transition and Beyond: Are You Up To Date?

This session will include a complete guide to evaluate patients with abnormal uterine bleeding during the menopause transition and in the postmenopausal stage of their lives. In addition to understanding normal anatomy and how that may appear on transvaginal ultrasound, we will include when and how to evaluate completely, when to utilize SIS and when to biopsy. And importantly, when to manage conservatively and NOT intervene. This presentation will be informative, evidence based, and interactive.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand normal anatomy of the pelvis using transvaginal ultrasound and changes which occur throughout the menstrual cycle.
  • List the parts of the differential diagnosis of abnormal uterine bleeding "PALM-COIEN" which are evaluated using transvaginal ultrasound.
  • Understand when a saline infusion sonogram is clinically helpful and learn how to perform the procedure with minimal or no pain.
